Ministry: Operators sign 100 bln rbl deals for base stations

MOSCOW, Jan 18 (PRIME) -- The Russian operators have signed forward contracts with national manufacturers of base stations for mobile connection networks worth over 100 billion rubles to buy about 75,000 base stations by 2030, Deputy Digital Development Ministry Dmitry Kim told PRIME on Wednesday.

“Already from 2028, they will have to purchase only national base stations. The transition to Russian equipment will be gradual. It will guarantee full compliance with the requirements to the equipment and redistribute financial loading,” Kim said.

The contracts were signed with two equipment suppliers, he added.

The ministry said at the end of 2022 that the big four mobile operators – MTS, MegaFon, VimpelCom, working as Beeline, and T2 RTK Holding, working as Tele2 – signed forward contracts for national base stations. The shipments will start from 2025.
